Parachuting Club of Finland

Founded in 1960, the Parachuting Club of Finland (SLK) is the country's largest and oldest parachuting club. SLK is a non-profit association, which's registered role is to promote parachuting sport activities in Finland. The club, which is based in Helsinki, is operated by one secretary and an active voluntary force.

SLK has approximately 500 members, and 12000-15000 jumps are made annually within the club's framework at Utti Airport. The majority of the skydiving activity is based on the club-owned, 18-slots Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft OH-DZF, manufactured in 2009. In addition to the jumps made by the club's member and other visiting independent jumpers, annually ca. 400-500 persons discover skydiving through a tandem jump made with a tandem jumpmaster. Each year 50-100 persons take a skydiving course aimed at becoming a licensed skydiver.

At the end of 2008 there were 695 valid skydiving licenses in Finland. 37 759 skydiving jumps were made in Finland during 2008, and 2402 members of the Finnish Aeronautical Association reported skydiving as their activity. The sport is equally represented by men and women.
